This year has had it's ups and downs. I finished last year playing some of the best golf I have, started this year hot, and have been in a slump for most of this year. I cash in 2 of my first events and have finished just out of cash since.
Just want to take a moment to thank everyone for all the kind words over the last couple of weeks.Winning back-to-backA Tiers in Des Moines and the Quad Cities has been an amazing experience! Both events are known for genuine hospitality and challenging courses,it’s a privilege to compete at them every year.
In addition to thegood fortune on the course that week,I also had the honor of representing Innova Champion Discs alongside Ross Brandt (Vibram)and Bill “Critter” Themm (Discraft), at the Principal Disc Golf Open and clinic. We provided professional disc golf instruction in cooperation with the PDGA, PGA Champions Tour, and the Principal Financial Charity Event. We had over 100 participants in attendance at the 2 Clinics which were organized by PDGA Marketing Director Dr. John Duesler. The clinics were each followed by 9 holes of golf on the challenging Southwoods course in West Des Moines, with individual instruction being provided by the Disc Golf Professionals walking around the course.
Well the 2010 season is in full swing, been a few rainy events lately, but rain golf is fun.The Quad City Disc Golf Club ran the fifth annual Rumble a few weeks back , and i got the pleasure of playn three premire courses at one event it was awesome,as it usually is.Played decently well for the weekend i was off my goal by four strokes each round and when it was said and done came up two short of first, but a great 2nd place finished in advanced. In other news a have recently made the switch, to discraft.I feel that it is paying dividends for me.i feel like ive gained consistencey and lost a lil distance.Which i can handle.Putting with the new focus and loving them, and not to mention the nuke.If you have never thrown one you don't know what you are missing. They go 30 ft farther than anything else.Love em!!! The IronLion tourney series is about to be pickn up so looking forward to many great events.Hope to play well.Say tuned for more updates.May your discs fly straight and true. Peace
So this past weekend i had the privlege of playing the United States Ametuer Disc Golf Championship, and i was overly impressed with the entire event. The player packs were great, the staff was friendly and helpful and the course was incredible. Having lunch at the course for after your round was great because the course is exhausting and Mark Ellis' Lizzard games were a silly and fun way to decompress after some grueling compition.
April was a little slow and had to shake off the winter rust. At the end of April I felt things were falling in place and I was happy with how I was playing. May came and I felt it was on of the strongest months I had in years. I got 4th in the St. Louis Open, 2nd at the Iron Lion Open, 1st at the Legion of Doom, 4th at the Illiana Open, and finished the month with a 2nd place at the Des Moines Challenge. Then last week I got 2nd again behind Chris Sprague who won back to back A tiers. Hopefully the season continues to go well and I'm locking forward to hitting the road. Up next are the Peoria Open, MN Majestic, taking the 4th of July off, then continue with Brent Hambrick and the Iowa State Championships.
