2010
by chase20460 |
As we start creating next seasons calendar, its time to reflect back on some of the more successful events from this season and figure out how to make them better, and what we were missing from the others. Right now, only one is on my mind. The Safari: This years Safari will be earlier in the season. We may actually use 2 different courses, one will be a temp on different land. Or, possibly just make it 27 holes, at Richmond Hill. Either way, we wont turn people away next season. It was hard to do that, but what can you do? This is where we are with disc golf, events will fill.

BLACK FRIDAY
by chase20460 |
Today is Thanksgiving, We here hope its all good and filling for you and yours! Thanks again to everyone that has had a hand in keeping the store open! We appreciate your business and hope we can continue to serve you for years to come! Tomorrow is BLACK FRIDAY, one of the worst days in the year, in my opinion. You really lose faith in humanity when people will stomp you into the ground rather than help you get up...because they wont get a $40 dvd player. I wont be shopping, but alot of people will. Old Navy is opening at 3 am, a sure sign the world is ending or fully going on 24 hour status everywhere soon. Anyways, the shop will be open and we will be SWINGING SICK DEALS! if your shopping, stop in and save some serious money!

Giving Thanks
by chase20460 |
As Turkey day nears people sometimes reflect on what makes them thankful. For me, its pretty simple. Im thankful I have a healthy little girl and a good woman. Im thankful I have a business on the upswing, and Im thankful I have a unreal group of people to share that with, family, friend, and the public. I am , ultimately, thankful for your support. I am thankful for the Team, and that so many people readily agree to be apart of something that is more for the gain of someone or something else than for themselves. The Team is set up with people that are dedicated to helping the store and the QC scene succeed, and I am indebted to them. They recieve very little, and do more than they realize. They have worked tirelessly at events, doing promotion for the store, breaking their backs to help get the courses in order before events, and in general, make the QCs a better place for disc golf. It is no mystery that the store is the main benefactor for thier hard work. I try to do whatever I can for them when I can, but its really never enough.

Hub City Open

I skipped around a bit, as I have been off here for awhile, and wanted to make sure that this one got looked at, so its out of order, sorry. As nobody reads this stuff anyways, I guess it doesnt really matter. Just kidding. I appreciate the 6 of you . This was another stellar event that the people forgot to attend. Well, actually there were some other events going on, in particular a DSM doubles event. To start, a huge thanks to Generation Oehlwein , Chris Black and AO for organizing and allowing us to be part of this tourney. Hopefully, we impressed enough that it will become yearly. Id go just to DRIVE GOLF CARTS WHILE PLA"YING DISC GOLF!!!!! It was awesome! I had more fun there than I have in awhile, and the main reason was the speed of our cart.
For those of you that havent played Wildcat, let me tell you about it. ITS SICK!!!!!!!! I cant understand how so many people skipped this of all events to skip. This course is probably the best course you have never heard of. The guys out there work tirelessly to bring it up the ladder of my favorites anywhere every trip. There is always something new, and rarely is it not something I like. Wildcat is located north of Cedar Rapids, south of Waterloo, or about 2 hours from the QCs. Departing Friday afternoon I met up with Doogie, FB, Dave, Mike , Chris and Ron, all of us deciding to brave it and camp. Some in Doogies RV, others elsewhere. Yeah Doogie got an RV, and it was sweet seeing him head up to Wildcat in it. We played some cards, and I got my first real experiance in the game called HORSES. This isnt the Poker game, though it is in some ways a card game. If you ever have the chance to play, do it. We had the RV bouncing and animals scared for miles with our yelling and laughter.
